Abu Hurayrah (ra) relates that the Prophet (saw) said, "a group of my community will not cease to fight at the gates of Damascus and at the gates of al-Quds (Jerusalem) and its surroundings. The betrayal or desertion of whoever deserts them will not harm them in the least. They will remain victorious, standing for the truth, until the Final Hour rises". (Al-Tabaraanee)

Quranic mention of Masjid Al Aqsa

Glory to Allah Who did take His servant for a journey by night from the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) to the Mosque of Al Aqsa (in Jerusalem). Whose precincts We did bless. That We may show him some of Our Signs. Indeed He alone is All-hearing, All-seeing. (Surah al-Israa, 17:1)

Al Tabarani

Abdullah ibn 'Amr (r.a.) reports that the Prophet (s.a.w.) repeated the following statement three times: "When the dissension takes place belief shall be in al-Sham". One version of the hadith states, "Safety will be in al-Sham".
